To start with, it is important to increase overall caloric intake while making sure those calories are coming from healthy sources. This means more whole grains, fruits, vegetables and lean proteins like fish or chicken. It is advised to stay away from processed foods as these contain large amounts of sugar, sodium and unhealthy fats which can put extra stress on an expecting mom’s body. Additionally, limiting sugary snacks such as candy bars and soda can help regulate blood sugar levels as well as provide a plentiful supply of vitamins and minerals found in fresh produce instead.
In addition to increasing healthy food choices during pregnancy, it is also important to decrease or avoid some items altogether due to their potential risks for harm or infection. These include raw meat since this may carry bacterias like listeria; soft cheeses such as feta or brie; deli meats; smoked seafood products like salmon jerky; alcohol; caffeine (more than two servings per day); undercooked eggs/egg products; high mercury fish such as swordfish and shark; unpasteurized milk/juices; raw sprouts; artificial sweeteners; unpasteurized honey (which may contain botulism spores); certain herbal remedies not previously approved by a doctor (as these might be harmful). Furthermore any type of drug should be avoided unless specifically prescribed by a doctor – even ibuprofen should only be taken when necessary with physician approval first!
Yes I have known someone very close who was pregnant before – my sister actually! She had been very careful about her diet during this period which involved eating plenty of fruits/vegetables unsaturated fats yogurt oatmeal brown rice multigrain bread dark leafy greens & bean dishes among others… Of course she also made sure that she avoided any processed foods bad oils trans fats added sugars excessive salt coffee tea etcetera – while getting adequate restful sleep drinking lots of water exercising regularly taking prenatal vitamins + omega 3 supplements daily checking up frequently on how things were progressing etcetera 🙂 As with most pregnancies there were certain bouts at times where her cravings got out of hand but each step was monitored closely by her doctors so nothing serious happened thankfully 🙂 All in all though it was still an enjoyable experience overall because at the end we welcomed our precious little bundle joy into the world 😉
