John Biewen and Chenjerai Kumanyika, the hosts of the podcast series “Seeing White” have expressed that they will be focusing on whiteness—the privilege it entails and its consequences for people of color. However, there are certain topics that they do not want to cover in this series. First, they do not want to provide a platform for white voices who deny or minimize racism’s existence or severity. They believe that these conversations take away from what should be a priority: understanding how institutionalized racism continues to affect people of color today (Biewen & Kumanyika 2017).

Furthermore, discussing this issue further could possibly distract from the core objective of exploring how systemic injustice has been used to uphold white supremacy throughout history.
Another topic the two hosts avoid is attempting to justify modern racial disparities through historical context alone.
